For children from underprivileged background — looked after health and pre-school education and provided three meals to children below the age of 6 years for about 15 years while their parents were away at work.
The Family Counselling and Advocacy Centres ran for social justice for over 20 years by ICSW Punjab under the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare, covering around 150 cases per year.
Made home visits all over the state of Punjab and resolved about two dozen cases and counselled many belonging to the Indian community settled abroad — mainly from UK, Canada, Germany and Israel.
In collaboration with other NGOs we have also held personal hygiene for women and yoga sessions for our Skin and Hair care course girls.
Continuing to Serve During the Pandemic
During covid, online coaching classes were held by NSS for school students of classes 10th, 11th & 12th, benefitting about 200 students. The NSS volunteers of the Engineering colleges of Panjab taught everyday. Around 200 children benefited and secured good marks.
Planned Programmes
In continuation of its efforts towards women empowerment and livelihood enablement, ICSW Punjab has planned programmes including computer training, healthcare attendant training, nanny training and domestic workers skill training under the Government of India's Skill Development initiative.
The support and contribution received helps design more trainings, provide health sessions and give scholarships to students. The programmes are extended to reach out to the underprivileged in a productive way.
